Seeking Seahorse Enthusiasts

Hello. My name is Helen Scales, I’m a marine biologist and writer based in Cambridge. I’m writing a popular science book about seahorses (out in 2009, published worldwide by Penguin). It will be about all the ways that for thousands of years mankind has been fascinated by seahorses.

Part of my book will be about seahorses in aquariums – The reason for my posting is I’m keen to find out from seahorse keepers more about how you have fallen for these wonderful creatures, and to discover the highs and lows of keeping seahorses at home.

Well, although I have never kept seahorses, one of the highs is breeding. I once had a female platy that gave birth, and the feeling was like no other.
