Seahorses In England..

Yep, you can find them in the Thames estuary just off the coast of Southend. The marine fauna around the British Isles is extremely varied, and far more interesting than many give credit for.

you u should go out and set some seahorse traps and sell em to the breeding project :hey: if they have seahorse traps.

they don't have seahorse traps, you simply go up and grab them by the tail and stick em in a bag of water. Keep them under water while you do it. They aren't exactly fast swimmers.

Although, considering how poor the viz is off of Southend in the Thames Estuary, seeing them in the first place would be some achievement...

I'm sure i read you can't keep British sealife in a home aquarium very easily because its hard to keep the water cold enough for them. Would be cool though if it did work.

Hmm ... how about metal halides ... :hey:

As I have seen the photos of one guy having built a tropical reef tank in the garden in Portugal what isn't that tropical at least not in winter, I could imagine having a tank outside in the garden, in the garage, or in a conservatory.

The problem might come in summer where only creatures from rockpools would be happy with rising temperatures.

Here is a link for the people crazy enough to consider this: :D :S

we use chiller units for keeping the southern knight seahorse. The tanks mist up a bit but a decent towel will make it easy to see in.
