Seahorse

They aren't particularly delicate, you just have to be prepared and research. they need a certain kind of tank, with very peaceful tankmates, and they need to be fad everyday. Also, they need cooler water. I've never kept them but I've seriously considered it.

Well, if you have the time they are pretty easy to take care of. The thing with seahorse though is that they dont seem to like dead food. It is really difficult to train them to eat anything that isnt moving. You have to feed them at least twice a day and they are extremely vulnerable to other fish. Otherwise, a seahorse is like any other fish.

Ive been told that seahorses dont have stomachs, food just in effect 'filters' through them, so need pretty much constant food or can starve quite easily. They also wont fight for their food so must be housed with other gentle slow fish. Other than this they are not overly delicate as far as SW fish are concerned.

Correct :D I feed my adults twice a day. Frozen mysis is their staple, they get frozen krill every few days, live brine shrimp once a week and a load of live river shrimp too once a week.
Tbh they arent hard at all. As long as you acquire their needs with water quality, temperature, be careful with tank mates; you should be fine :D
It isnt one but difficult to get them onto frozen foods now as most seahorses available are captive bred, so they are already trained to take frozen foods. Wild caughts however are alot harder, and generally stay on live foods which turns out to be v.exspensive :S

Id start a pair of H.Reidi off in a 15-20 gallon tall, then take them to a 29 gallon when theyre larger, but it obviously depends on the species). I have a 20 gallon and mine are getting very large :S So ill be upgrading soon for an EVEN taller tank!

heres a few pics of mine :D

It depends on the kind. Dwarf seahorses need only about 3 gallons because they're so small, but larger ones need 20 to 30 gallons.

Would a 29 gallon species tank be ok. No other fish would be in there.

But then again Dwarves will struggle to survive in anything more than a 10 gal usually as they find it very hard to find foods in anything larger :S
