I'm curious what others think about putting seashells in tanks. Do they change the PH level? Up or down? I put some in my new tank recently.

No, you musn't keep them, they will raise your pH (over 7). That said, I have crushed shells in my substrate, that I find almost impossible to remove. But I've had no problems, since I pump in CO2, and the pH of my tank is between 6.5 and 7

I have some of them in my 5gal tank - but I also have like 2 small pieces of driftwood to balance everything out.
