Well I have a question that may or may not seem silly, I just really don't know the answer to it :). I have an algae scraper for my tank, but should I be scraping the glass even when I don't have any noticeable algae? After I gravel vacuum and remove 25% of the water for my annual changes, I do notice that the glass above the water level seems slimy, and it is removed if I scrape the sides. However, is this necessary, or am I just doing extra work? Thank you for help!

It's up to you and just personal preference. I like my glass really clear so I do it but you don't have to.

Well, do you mind having the slimy stuff on the side. If you don't mind then leave it. It's also ok to have some algae on the side of the glass. You don't have to clean everytime you see the tiniest piece of algae.

I should also say that since I have Mbunas, I only clean 2 sides (the ones in the open) each time. The other 2 I leave and let the Mbunas graze on it. If it gets out of control then I clean it and start over though.

What's above the water line is probably just where the water evaporated... If you have an algae eater, I wouldn't bother scraping the glass unless you can see anything on it. If it's clear, I'd leave it alone because you are probably doing extra work, but what could it hurt? :p I usually always clean all sides of my glass with an algae scraper, though. My pleco eats wafers.
