Scientific Name Translations

so
can we agree on the points needed for this venture?

ie
fish name then the origin of the root words that it is constructed from with what they mean
as in
fish name (Aborichthys)
origin or root words with their meanings (Greek, a = without + Greek, boros = gluttonous + Greek, ichthys = fish)

or do you want more like an English translation too (fish without gluttony)?

I'm currently on N in my research so could start posting from A for those that are interested,
perhaps in the scientific section?

Sorry for not replying to this sooner, ive been away on one of my forum breaks for a while and have just returned today.
Id be happy to work at this, but I dont really know where to get translations from.
We could have it split up into either fish castegories (cichlids, catfish, brackish and so on), but that might get a bit complicated. It could be done by families in one huge list within a pinned topic in the scientific section.
What about having it laid out with scientific name, followed by the origin or root words, then a final english translation?
Eg: Pterophyllum scalare: Ptero = winged, phyllum = leaf, scalare = flight of stairs. English: A fish with a body of a leaf, with wings (fins) and a stepped dorsal fin.
But again that may be a bit complicated.
Let me know your thoughts.
