Is it odd that my Neon Tetras are kinda like not schooling as much as they used to be, like they'd be spread out more often now and never really stick together? is that a sign of somethning?

Its a sign they are not stressed out and more relaxed with their surroundings. :)

As mr_miagi32 said, they aren't stressed or more importantly, don't feel threatened. Fish school as a defense mechanism, the old safety in numbers thing. Once they are comfortable with the tank and realize there isn't something that's likely to eat them, they will begin to loosen up a little.

well that is very interesting to know.. coz ours have started doing that also! we have neon tetras, platinum tetras and black neon tetras, and they used to school together quite a lot.. but not anymore.. :)

we have about 8 neons in our 55 gallon and when they were young and much smaller they went together but not so much anymore. once and a while they do shoal together though. even though it means they are comfortable in their environment, i miss a swarm of neons swimming through the tank together :(

if you want your neons to school then scare them on purpose!!! then you would have your old school back..
but then again this would be anilmal cruelty... so dont listen to me... :S
