I have danios, neon tetra, and lambchop rasbora with my honey gourami. I had rummynose tetra with my cories. They all get along. Water parameters tend to be similar ranges. So those would be my recommendations.

Wait, don’t guppies need harder water? I’ve never had them so I don’t know much about them

yeah

they do but they have gotten used to my soft water that wont change no matter what over the year. many generations have lived in the soft water :D

I think 1.5-2” max. I think that 2” is really pushing it tho.

Look into Neon Tetras, Harlequin Rasbora, and Celestial Pearl Danios. I love all of those.
niiice
cpds are kinda rare here for some reason
wait whtas the difference btwn cardinal and neon?
the only thing i know is that cardinals have more red line

wait what's the difference btwn cardinal and neon?
Neon tetras have the red line going half way along the body.
Cardinal tetras have the red line run the full length of the body.

Cardinals grow a bit bigger and tolerate warmer water than neons.

Both species will swim together in a group and some people mix 20 or 30 of each in a big tank for an interesting combination.

alright cool
ill start w/some neons i dont think petsmart has cardinaals lately
what about blackskirt tetras?
i've had them... (when i was a total noob at fishkeeping and i killed all of me fish)

I would be wary of putting neons (and quite a few other tetras) in with guppies or anything that has long fins. Neons in my experience don't seem to be able to resist nipping long fins. Cardinals are generally better but more fragile.

Need to know your PH and hardness to give proper suggestions really.

Danios might work but generally need cooler water, same for white cloud mountain minnows.

For non-nippy tetras (assuming water parameters are a match)
Glowlight, Flame, Cardinal and Rummynose tetras are all fairly peaceful and not prone to nipping. Cardinals and Rummynose tetras are very sensitive to poor water quality though.

Another option I have recently started keeping myself are lampeye Killifish, often sold as Lampeye tetras.
They don't have a ton of colour and you need a good size group (12+) of them to stop them hiding away. They are incredibly peaceful fish though.

They are however probably more fragile than even cardinals/rummynose's.
