The other day I saw a picture of the Scarlet Badis [dario dario] and fell in love. I know that they are super shy, but can they live in 10g community tanks? Especially, can they live with a betta? The other eventual tank inhabitants would be a small shoal of green neon tetras, otocinclus, ghost shrimp and a mystery snail.

Otherwise, anyone have any information about them? I think they are calm, get to about an inch long, need warm water, being from India. Do they need to be in pairs? Any comments would be great!

I personally would say no to keeping them with a betta, others may think differently though, the neons otos and shrimp would be fine though.

There's a long thread on the basis here: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/342551-one-for-the-badis-lovers-out-there/page__hl__Scarlet%20badis__fromsearch__1

There is some good info on the basis requirements here: http://www.seriouslyfish.com/profile.php?genus=Dario&species=sp.+%27Myanmar%27&id=1338

Not suitable in yous tank because
-they are compatible with Betta
-they are sub-tropical fish and need cool water
