he's falling apart - bits of his tail are falling off, he's developed an ich spot, he's all pine-coney, his colour is almost gone...he looks like hell.
I can't stand it any more so I went out and as per the pinned topic on euthanising a fish, got some alka-seltzer.
man that's some tough little fish. I'm up to 6 tablets.
....ok, he's gone.
rest in peace sparky.
"why did we bring him home with us from the fish store? because he wanted us to!"
crying again.

Awwww :rip: Sparky

Its not easy to let them go, but you know when its time. I'm sure you did all you could for him :-(

R.I.P. little sparky.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I know how hard it is to see a beloved pet deteriorate and be helpless to stop it. You were very strong to put him down; it must have been tough, but clearly he was suffering. I'm sure if he could, he'd have thanked you for putting an end to his struggle. Dropsy is a horrible disease.
:rip:

:-( I'm sorry for your loss. When my first Betta died I cried for weeks. But I accidently cooked mine...at least this isn't your fault. You did what you had to do. It was nice that he didn't have to suffer.

I want to say thank you to everyone who replied, reading your notes really made me feel better. :/
It was a tough thing to do but it was obvious he wasn't going to pull through and I couldn't stand watching him falling apart any longer.

But I accidently cooked mine...at least this isn't your fault.
!!!!! red_fish_blue_fish!
omg! that's awful! what happened?

I accidently cooked one last year :X He was in the kitchen and I set a slow cooker up at what I thought was a safe distance away. It wasn't :-(
