South American Puffers are supposed to be quite tolerant from what I've heard on these forums and im wondering if they could be kept with Dwarf Puffers, or would Dwarfs be more of a threat to the South American?

Or how about Red-tailed Red Eye Puffers with Dwarfs, South Americans or both?

I wouldn't bother mixing two types together at all.

Reds and Dwarfs are both notorious fin nippers, and they are all puffers. Even though SAPs are the most tolerant, i still wouldn't risk it. I would think that mixing two different species together may be a mistake, and I, personally, wuldn't risk it.

I've kept Dwarves with S/A's for a couple years with no aggression issues. The main thing you need to watch for is the Dwarves being out competed for food. The S/A's are voracious eaters and the Dwarves being slower eaters can be starved out if the food isn't distributed throughout the whole tank. I find that having some Java moss to pour food into helps out, as the Dwarves will pick away at that as the S/A's gobble up everything else in the tank.

Once again illustrating the varied personalities within individual species, when they were first housed together one of my S/A's used to school around with the Dwarves.
