i have now set up my long anticipated 70g cichlid tank i put a playsand substrate with lots of rocks a fake plant and clay pots last night i put my water in..it took forever..neways when i put it in the it was a huge cloud of sand i expected that and i waited until luch today most of the sand had settled so i turned on my powerhead and at 3:30 i cleaned the filter of any sand and i put it in along with tap water conditioner and cylce stuff and i turned on my 2 heaters i think all the snad is settled but the water is so cloudy you can barely see the otherside i was wondering if this is the cloudy part of cycling or is it a problem any advice?

How well did you wash your sand? When I added coral sand to my 55gal malawi tank it clouded the water even after rinsing it about 10 times. You should find it clears as in settles and gets filtered out, mine was clear in less than 24 hours.

i looked through many website and all said play sand was fine so i have it now and its to late to change so i gotta deal with it shouldn't be to hard but what kinda stuf do i need to do

It's NBD assuming you are going to cycle the tank in some way that will take weeks... so your cloud will be gone by then :p

I used some reddish rocks from a hardware store... river mix of some sort.. took a long time before filter pads wernt tinted red.. months if I recall.
