Hi,

I felt like putting this in the beginners section, as I think this was a beginner move for sure. I washed out my sand before putting it into my 33 gallon tank, however I dont think I washed it out well enough, its going on 12hrs and it's still quite cloudy water, is this normal? Is there anything I can do to fix this if I didnt rinse enough? I feel if i try and do water changes I'd just mix up the water/sand again!

Any help would be appreciated!
Jim

maybe you could try doing a water change but put a bowl or something in the tank before you pour water in so you don't disturb the sand again :dunno: either that or pour water in really slowly. hope this helps a bit :)

Well I tried something i figure since I already washed out the sand....in my tank, i emptied the water out and put it back in slowly (diff water) it's still cloudy but hopefully it'll go away faster, does sand usually cloud like this? A day or so?

Thanks again :look:

I turned on the filter, didnt put fish in though, suppose i should turn the filter off, although it did clear up the water! its a biowheel, so whill that bother it any?

Thanks

I would leave the filter on, mine cleared in a day but it depends how well you rinsed it.

Its worth the wait though, what a difference it makes!

good luck with it.

It will cloud up for a day or so, no big deal. Next time, put a garbage bag over the bottom of the tank and pour the water showly on that. Then just pull the bag out. Instead of the water hitting sand and stirring it up, the bag will protect it. I did my friends tank like that when I set it up for him and it worked perfect. 0 clouding.
