Hey,

I am looking to convert my 2 non-sand tanks to sand. I want the sand to be about 3" deep (to cover mini plant pots).

How much would I need (in kg) for these tanks:

4ft (48") x 1.5ft (18") and 2.5ft (32") x 1ft (12")

The bags are 15kg for £2.49

Thanks babyfish for the info btw!! The place is here Sand Link

:)

:fish: Hi cheese specialist, when I did my 60in by 20 in tank it took 4 of those bags to give me a layer of about 1 inch all over, I 'm getting another 3 bags to do my 48in by 15in tank, might make the sand a bit deeper this time, hth :D

i dont know it in weight... but i used two (knee high im 5"5) bags of sand... only ended up usein 1 an 3/4's tho... got a nice layer goin on :)

Ooooh I thought your tank looked quite deep. Maybe I only need to have 2" then.

I am not sure how much to get. I suppose if I don't have enough I can just not do the smaller tank right away and then I will have a beter idea.

Is it ok to use this argos stuff then

If so I'll be going to get some myself the weekend

Yup! Lots of people use play-pit sand, just be sure to wash it thoroughly (sp?!) before using it.

:D

Oh and will you let me know how much you used in what size tank etc? ;)

will do

im going to pick mine up saturday ......

i'm going half gravel/half sand and planning to build up a sandbank of one side of my tank
