Sand?

Hi All !!


I am wanting to change the gravel in mytank to sand however i dont have a clue what type to get !! I was wondering if people could let me know which they use and which they think is best.

Also I need to know how much to cover a 6 feet by 2 feet tank !!

If you are in the UK I would buy 2 bags of playsand from Argos for £2.50 each and then wash thoroughly.

wish id known about the argos sand befor i payed £1.20 a kg for aquarium sand from a lfs.


One thing i did find out is that you need loads of sand, 10kg of gravel can go quite far, 10kg or sand doesnt!

In my 29G I used a 5.8Kg tub of TetraComplete (plant nutrient substrate) which gave me 1-1½cm and 1 x 15KG Argos playsand.

On average I guess my substrate is approx 4cm deep.
