Sand

Hi folks.

I was thinking about designing a tank that had a sand bottom, live plants and ghost shrimp.

My concern is with the sand bottom. Does anyone have any tips about maintaining the tank? Is sand a pretty difficult to maintain substrate to be using in a tank?
