I'm adding sand to my new tank soon i want as thinner layer as possible (1"???) for my 48"x15"x18" how much in KG is a good esimate amount.

41.4lbs / 18.77 kg
this will give a 1" bed on 48L x 15W
it will displace 3.11usgallons/ 11.77ltrs

That would work ginge but if you go Jollys in Waterlooville they sell aquarium sand loose at 49p/KG.. would therefore cost £9, not a bad saving + no wait + no p+p.

Never really trusted their shop (very unprofessional for fish) this must be the only cheap thing there. Noticed how unprofetional the shop is???
I was planing to get some cloths from the TK-Max there in the next few days so i will go then. Thanks for your help.
Thanks again you have been very help full.

P.S You should make a calculator for all of the dumbasses out there that calculates the amount of sand you need.(dont know what program you would use??? MS Excell)

If wolf has the formulae to hand I can turn it into a javascript based script within 5 min?
