Can anyone tell where I can find the fine white pool filter sand in the Norwich area? So far have only found the coarser darker filter sand not the white stuff...

Are there any big chain stores which sell the white filter sand?

Also, can someone highlight to me the pros/cons between filter sand and play sand for a substrate?

Thanks

Hi
The swimming pool filter sand does not compact as much.
Fine sand and Play sand tends to compact and produce dead spots in the aquarium.
If you cant get white go with the coarser pool sand for a natural looking planted aquarium.

Thanks for that, but what exactly do you mean by dead spots? The sand is too tightly packed for plants to grow okay? Poor particle circulation? What negatives come from it?
