I know first of all this is the wrondg room but i have a few questions about sand. The proper room wouldnot let post a new topic in their. So, I decided to come to my fellow oddball lovers for advice. First of all can i use play ground sand from home depot? Second, how can i clean the sand? Third, do i replace the gravel with sand? Fourth, can i leave the fish in the tank while i an changing the substrate? Thanks for the help

Play Sand- Yes you can use it.

Cleaning- You dont need to, but it is safer. If you want to clean it, poor it in a bowl, add water, then pour the water out. Thats the only method which I've heard of.

Gravel- Take all gravel out. Make sure you dont leave UnderGravel filters in.

Fish- Im not sure, my fish intuition is leaning towards no. I would put them into another tank untill the sand has completely settled.

Yeah-No fish. I just put my in a spare tank I had
As far as water changes the poo stays on top so just syphon a little bit above the sand, swirl it around and the poo is sucked up.
