Got a new tank today and since it is in the lounge mum has decided she wants plastic plants  it gets worse she wants purple/pink/red ones but i have suggested sand so would like some pictures of how good planted sand tanks look, it would be argos play sand if we got any

Hiya-i've just used the argos play sand and it looks awesome. I havent got any pics as i havent finished planting and sorting the backgrounds. Wash it thoroughly -it took 2 days to go crystal clear. I'll put some pics on over the weekend if i get a chance, probably pm you the pics or i might start a thread to show off. What tank did you get?

Heres a couple of shots, planted with sand.

ended up using the whole 15KG bag of sand

you dont want the sand too deep, as it can cause issues with anaerobic gases later.

is that the elite 60? i used just over half the 15kg and got an inch deep???

EDIT: Then again i have an inch of JBL aquabasis  just ignore me :) You have seen my tank so i wont bother posting it again ;)

Aaron it is, i said it had enough after 3/4 of a bag but mum didn't agree she wanted it deeper
