was just wondering if anyone has ever had gravel and also had a section of sand in their tank? also any photos if you do ?

See sig.

I have fluorite and sand... Oddly, my cories seem to prefer to hang out in the fluorite area. I feed only on the sand, but they don't seem to want to come out into the open during the day. They do work the sand a lot though, I can tell by all the dimples in the sand. :D

I do in most of my tanks; I find the mix looks more natural than plain sand. I think you need to aim to have nearly all sand with just a bit of gravel though or the sand just sinks and gets lost.

Here's some (really bad) photos of it how it looks in a few of my tanks ;

James that looks awesome mate, makes me wanna start using sand!!

Thanks guys :good: if its wanted my friend took some step by step photos as it was done, there are a few plants on the left now as well. :)

Is how two of my tanks are set up. Seems to work well for my crayfish The kick the sand around like crazy and burrow in both. They seem to prefer dens in the gravel though The 55 I am setting up for them will likely be all gravel. But I do like the look of atank with both it effects the lighting quite dramaticly with a dark gravel and light sand.
