Sand?(again)

ok heres the deal i just got back from the fish store and bought a 55 gallon tank. i told them i wanted to put sand in it and as soon as i said that they said no way! i thought i could use sand and be just fine as long as i dont have an under gravel filter. who was right, is sand ok in a freshwater tank or will it clog up my filter or syfin like the people at the store said???

It'll be fine if you don't have a UGF, they probably want you to but gravel off them or something.

Yea, they just want you to buy gravel from them. Sand is ok, check out the stickys and FAQs, they're full of info for sand.
