Sand - A Few Questions

I currently have black sand in my tank. I had wanted white sand but the guy at the lfs said the white sand they sold was not suitable for freshwater tanks. Being impatient, I bought the black sand and started my aquascape.
Now I need to put more sand in to get the look I am after. I could add more black sand but I am wondering about adding white sand instead. What would it look like?
Also, what kinds of white sand are okay for freshwater? I have heard that play sand or pool filter sand is good.

Hi. I'm not sure what white and black would look like together but I've used argos play sand in my tank and it looks great. So cheap too it just takes quite a bit of washing beforehand

It probably won't look that appealing... If you want to go white, then get enough white sand to do it.
