Mikey

In terms of common names then yes certainly 'rubber lipped' and 'rubber nose' are generally from the genus Chaetostoma.

see here for more info, paying particular attention to C. milesi and C. sp1 for the commonly exported ones.

Also note the temperature and water conditions they prefer

Thanks for the reply Xingumike.. Web site was very handy! Upon review my pleco looks indentical to Chaetostoma Dupouii.. Ironically they did not offer any details ie. temp-lifespan-fast or slow current-location etc etc! You seem very knowledable on this subject. Maybe you know the requirements for this pleco or can help me get the info I need.. Thx again

Mikey

I would assume the same as most Chaetostoma guidelines.

They are found in high altittude, fast flowing streams so a bot cooler than your average trop tank (20-24Centigrade), with high current and oxygen content.

The 2 sp. I kept were more ofthen than not attached to a piece of dfirtwood that was directly in line with the spraybar from my filter.
