Salt

I recently purchased 4 clown loaches which are currently in quanentine.
The guy at the LFS suggested to treat with a 1/2 tx of salt in my tanks to prevent Ich. Also to keep my temp around 80-82. I plan on moving the Clowns to my 150 in about another week.

I am unsure about using salt. I have some salt I purchased at the LFS, so I assume it's safe. I am just trying to be extra careful about my 150.

Please let me know your opinions.

If i am not mistaken, clown loaches are scaleless fish and using salt with them would be a bad idea. Try using MelaFix or something similar instead.

I'll just leave it unmedicated for the quarantine tank. If they dont have ich, why use salt?

To avoid ich all you need to do is avoid exposing the fish to stress (and make sure you don't bring it home from the lfs, of course).
