This is sort of an fyi post on using aquarium salt in the water when your fish has an open wound (in case anyone has the same problems/questions that I did).
My girl has a fairly bad wound on her side that I've been (so far unsuccessfully) treating so I did a bit of research on this forum yesterday to see if there were any other suggested treatments. As I was looking, I noticed some posts on the topic of using salt in the water if a betta has a wound and one poster opined that it was a bad idea as salt in the wound would hurt. I was going to change my girl's water again today and was going to leave the (aquarium) salt out but thought I'd google the subject and see if there was any other info on the topic first.
According to the Bristol Aquarist's Society:
"Fish lose salts quickly through open wounds, so add aquarium salt at a dose of 1-3g/litre."
