Hey all,
I don't have a accurate scale in my house... I need to know how many US cups are in 1.4 lbs. of salt.. Thank you! :D

My office coffee cup is 0.75 litres, its real big and great for the first coffee of the morning eye opener.

This says that 1 level cup will make the specific gravity of 3.75 gallons of water to 1.021. It also says that 1.4 pounds of salt will treat 5 gallons to the same specific gravity of 1.021. So algebra-wise, 1 1/3 cups of salt will get you to 1.4 pounds. If my maths is that bad, someone check me, but I think I'm close.

It really depends on what temperature the tank will run at. SG will change with temperature. 35ppm is more accurate I always read my refractometer in ppm

Ok so we all now know cups come in many sizes. For general measurements perhaps something more universal should be used such as table spoons.

Oh also, once salt is exposed to the atmosphere and starts absorbing air bourne water, it pretty much throws the cup/spoon thing out the window.
