I'm currently treating a new guppy I bought yesterday for dropsy (skin infection to one side of the fish) Didn't realise till i put it in the tank with the better light that it had a problem, as it was a freebie to replace fish I lost due to the Gambusia problem.
I'm using a salt bath for half an hour and was wondering how often I should use it. The books give good advice on saturation etc, but nothing on frequency.
I was suprised to see the fish still alive this morning and it ate well yesterday despite its travels to its new home, so I guess there is a chance for it.
Any advice on this subject would be greatfully received.

I have some Melafix but would prefer to just treat the fish rather than the whole tank as all others are well and happy.

Guppies can go into full saltwater without a problem. Why don't you just leave it in the bath ntil the problem disappears?
