I do not think so but need to ask. Can I add salt to a tank containing Yoyo loaches to help treat internal parasites in Swordtails?

Salt is unnatural and not good for most freshwater fish, and for scaleless fish such as loaches, this is particulaly the case.

If you are going to treat sick fish, you should treat them in a seperate hospital tank where you can closely monitor the conditions.

What internal parasites are you trying to treat with salt?

Loaches will tolerate salt for a medication period but not as a longer term additive. I have never heard of treating internal parasites with salt. I would suggest you use Metronidazole. If you can't find it under this generic name ( it is available from online suppliers) then you can use hexamit which has metro as its main ingredient.

I have a better post on this in emergencies. I was just confirming that salt is a no go with loaches, I was already 80% sure of that. I have heard that some salt can help livebearers with parasites.

Move your other fish to a seperate tank for treatment. They loaches MIGHT be ok but you still shouldn't do it.
