Salinity doesn't vary with tempature it's just our ability to measure it that is thrown out but water temp. I think specific gravity is effected by tempature due to different density of the water.
Density and ultimately refractive index is effected by temperature, hence why results will vary with temperature, always test at 25[sup]o[/sup]C, this is what your equipment is calibrated to, Salinity is the same irrespective of temperature.
The reason why i'm asking is because I simply can't be bothered to fart about mixing my own salt water up anymore and also as I have found a new lfs that will mix up salt water to my desired SG for me.
I just have to let him know 1 hour before I go to pick it up. He uses reef crystals as well with all the trace elements in [so he says]. I'm picking up 50 L of it off him 2moro and as soon as i get back i'm gonna test it for the obvious...............And everything else!
He only charges £4 for 25L so providing it's good stuff, I won't have to fork out for pro reef salt anymore and start mixing the night before.
If you can accurately measure out volumes of liquid and masses of salt (to 2 or 3 decimal places is best) then you can calculate the SG of the salt you mix yourself.
Haha you could say that, but it pays off, I was bored and was drinking my pepsimax when saw some competition thingy on there went on facebook and theres this free comp thingy, I just had an email saying I won £50 itunes vouchers haha
I also felt sorry for dear woody that noone wanted to reply to him so thought I would throw in my suggestion
