Made a post in the emergencey section but just in case I will put one here too. the fish in my community tank have ick it rode in on some platys. I am going to do the 80ish degree high saline treatment for it but am concerned that the high saline will hurt my blue lobsters and my mystery snails. I have started raising the tamp and it is around 78ish now. I have the recomended normal amount of aquarium salt in there now I will start raising that higher in the morning once I know what to do with my lobsters.

cant speak for snails but Blue Lobster (Australian Redclaw) will be fine in a solution of 5ppm salt. any higher than that, and it will be in trouble. the solution is a 10 gallon tank, whilst you treat the fish.

Indeed, a therapeutic salinity like you'd use for Whitespot is only around 2 grammes/litre and that won't harm crayfish at all. Apple snails a bit more of a gamble, but should be okay.

Cheers, Neale

Eh I had already moved them both to the other tank cus I needed to start treatment and was scared I would hurt them. however some parasites likely rode along with them. With only snails and my lobsters in the tank with them the parasites should die off after a while right? If so how long would you recomend I wait for the second tank to be safe as I will not be treating it.

In theory, if there are no fish, the Whitespot parasite will die out within a couple of days. However, this hasn't always been the case. By all means try this out, and leave the tank fallow for at least a couple of weeks before adding fish back in.

Cheers, Neale

Will do thanks again neale. Glad your on here none of the local stores even the good one know much about crayfish. So having a source of info is nice.
