well.....after an outburst of black hair algae  i've decided to use the fishy method of gettin rid instead of the saddam way :saddam:

what are SAE's like to keep?

I'd say they are very easy to keep. Mine eats algae all day long he rarely stops hovering around the plants. He will also eat all the food I put into the tank, flakes pellets blood worms and brine shrimp. He is a great fish. They can grow to be 6 inches in length and are considered schooling fish. I've read they like to be in a group of at least three. I don't have the room so he is alone. He seems pretty happy. Just be careful when you get one I've heard that some LFS call flying foxes SAE's. They do look almost identical but are completly different fish. The flying fox does not really eat algae.

They are failr easy to keep, like moe said, and they are probably the best algae eaters you can find in the aquarium trade.

Also a note on using ich medicine. This can get concentrated on algaes, and the SAEs are the first to suffer if you use too much.
