Hi all,
not sure if this is normal for an SAE, maybe someone can shed light onto its behaviour?
We've had our SAE for about 7 months, since then (s)he grown for the size of a black neon upto its current size of about4 or 5 inches.. so I know its eating well, its scrabbling with the rest of them for flake and the like. When I put cucumber in its always one of the first to check out whats new in the tank, have a nibble and swim away.
But recently between feeds, hes been doing circles around the plants near the edge of the glass in rather complicated patterns... its disurbingly impressive on the regularity of patterns. Also, its now has a tendancy to swim away from the glass and hide when I get close to the tank - never seemed to do that before (actully - same goes for the Moonlight Goramis too... Hmm..)
Could it be mating related, and trying to impress other tanks mates? It is the only SAE we have in the tank, due to conflicting things I'm reading about keeping them with others)
I'm gonna do a water change today and see how he acts, normally hes not bothered - quite curious about the hoover actully - have to make sure he's not normally sucked up!
So, does anyone have any ideas whats going on, or should I just keep an eye on him for a while?

(just thinking about it, its almost been the same amount of time since I put the second CO2 defuser in - I'll move it to the other end of the tank with the other see if that makes a difference too)
