It pains me to write this but im afraid i might have to get rid of Floyd, i have had some financial difficulty recently and am struggling with finding enough money to keep him with his food costs rising, vets bills, insurance fees etc and ive got to move out and i cant find anywhere that accepts pets within my price range.
HELP! should i keep him and hope that my finances improve or bite the bullet and return him to the rescue centre i got him from?

i feel so bad for you, this might be a bit too personal but how far off are you fromtaking care of him $$ wise? if its not that much imo i would cut back on some non essentials to pull through and hope things improve....

sorry bout your situation bro

Oh no, what an awful decision to have to make - good luck and I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you

Ive sat down and talked with my parents, for advice, and when i do move out i wont be able to take him with me, 99% of rentals dont allow pets, and realistically i wont be able to save money for my own place AND for him for just incase so he has to go back. On the plus side it will be easier to find him a home cos he's lived in one for quite a while, im not looking forward to giving him up though :-(

im sorry about your situation, i probably would take forever to get over that, is there anyway to be able to visit once amonth for year just to check up on him/her??

So sorry to hear this - whereabouts are you?

I know a lot of people involved in rehoming and could possibly help you to find him a home where you can visit and know he is doing well.

On the other hand - have you looked into rented housing?
I am in rented accommodation and have 3 rats, god knows how many fishtanks and 3 dogs. All totally legit. I just had to pay a larger deposit.

You may be surprised. Is Floyd insured? If so, that should help with peace of mind on healthcare and if you shop around for food, you can get the best price on a good quality mix which should help too.

yep i can only rent and nowehere whithin my budget accepts dogs, his insurance is partof the problem and if i need to rehome him i MUST give him back to where i got him from, it was in the contract i signed.
And i have shopped around for food to and cant find anything cheaper.
My decision hasnt been taken lightly and ive always tried to find the cheaper option, rented accommodation where i live starts at £500 when they accept dogs, ive found a small flat that accepts ratty as long as i keep it clean for £200 a month or a self contained largeish house in a block of flats for £220 a month.

I really feel for you, I was in this situation a couple of years ago faced with re-homing my 4 girls, but luckily we finally found somewhere. I have just lost one of my lurchers to cancer recently and the pain of her loss is terrible. It would be such a shame to send him back to a rescue centre he is a beautiful boy. The only other thing would be to ask the rescue centre if they can foster him till you get accomodation sorted.

Yes but accommodation doesnt accept dos and i cant afford £500 a month
