I have had my two bolivian rams in my tank for about a month now, maybe longer. And overtime my male has claimed a bit of territory at the front of the tank and now bullies the female. The female now just spends all her time in the corner of the tank and for the last few days hasnt eaten.

My girlfriend has a small tank, probably only about 5gal or so, im not sure thats only a guess, ill find out tonight. Anyway its under her bed and she doesnt want it so my idea is to get it off her and turn it into a hospital tank, then put the ram in there and get her feeding again, and back up to good health. Then eventually, Back into the main tank.

Do you think this would help at all? i no you need 20gal per bolivian ram but just for a couple of weeks on her own in a small tank would be ok wouldnt it?

cheers, dave

If shes really stressed then it will probably be ok for a week or so. When you put her back into the main tank, do a 50% w/c and re-arrange the decor, put them both back on a even footing, if that doesnt improve the situation you may have to re-home her or the male.

I've had to permanently separate my kribs for the same reasons ( 2 females hate eachother ) . I found that it did wonders for the health and behaviour of the stressed fish. As long as the water changes are frequent ( being 5 gals and all that ) and it's filtered with lots of hiding places and plants, she should calm down and start to eat again.

hmmm yeh ive the hopital tank set up today ill just quickly cycle it over the next few days then try to get her to feed again. Its a bummer when fish dont get along. I might be getting another 50gal or so tank soon so if this all doesnt work, she can be the first new member.

Thanks for the replys honeythorn and mixnfishy
