rusty colored sand

to day i woke up and seen big patches of rusty colored sand what is it just alge or what my tank has been cycling for about a week

is it a sorta light brown color?
edit: or just brown?

does it look like dust? if so, it is just a diatom algae which will clear up once the tank cycles. do you have the lights on? the lights should remain off during the cycling period.

i am cycleing with fish so the lght needs to be on

fish don't require light. they will be fine with the light off.
