saw these at the lfs last night. they are very cool looking fish. looked them up today and am considering them for a future tank. anyone have any? what are they like? what do you have them with? how many do youhave?

I've got two different species of them! Hemigrammus bleheri and Petitella georgia, of which H.bleheri is the most commonly obtained.

Article on the two rummy-nosed tetras.

They're great fish and not particularly difficult, but they do like good water quality.

how many do you keep in a school AA? what other fish do you have them with?

I've got a school of 7 H.bleheri and 3 P.georgiae. I'd like to make up my school of P.georgiae but they're hard to get hold of.

I keep them with cardinal tetras, pearl gouramis, cherry barbs, a bristlenosed plec and some chain loaches. They are great for a planted aquarium - contrast wonderfully with the plants.

If you want to buy shoal fish, then buy "rummy nose". Because it is a fish, which live in shoal. When someone is changing swim-direction, the rest follow behind :)

My cam isn't very good, when trying to take pic about fishes... So pics are wuite messy.

H. bleheri 1
H. bleheri 2
H. bleheri 3 (scroll down)

So buy large shoal - if only you have enough space. If not, consider another sp. than "rummy-nose".
