at my local fish shop they have sharks labeled red tailed black sharks (there are also albino ones) but some places have ruby sharks and others red tailed sharks. i was wondering if there is a difference between the fish or are they just named differently at different fish shops?

Red tail or red tail black sharks have a black body and black fins with the exception of the tail, which is red.
Ruby or rainbow sharks have a black body and red fins all round.
They both do albino versions which have white bodies and red fins/ tail.

I'd say that these had a more grey to dark grey body, but otherwise yes, it is difficult to confuse the two.
