What veggies do they like?

And what live food do they like? I have found a shop not too far from home which sells live food.

Hey,

I just recently got a RTBS that was fully grown, at about 6 inches and was donated to my LFS, I brought him home, and he has been a very pickey eater for me.

Anyhow, he will eat both cuccumber and peas. Not sure what else to tell you, that is all I have seen him eat since I have gotton him.

I've always heard the like them with the skins off, and I am just in the kitchen making some for my RTBS (and loaches and bronchis). My question: do they need to be cut into smaller (than pea-sized) pieces?

Thats a good point actually, i would like to knmow if you have to cut cucumber and peas in to smaller pieces?

Yes, it seems silly, but you should see the battle being waged right now by my fish with pea-halves.... They are greatly interested but some don't know what to do with them. I am going to zap them for a bit longer, then sprinkle a variety of cut and uncut halves so all can enjoy. Any advice though from someone who has a better technque would be appreciated.

nope i do not cut them...my 4" red tail shark uses his little barbles and skims across the cucumber over and over - eating it slowly, but surely

I take the skinds off the peas and break them into halfs.

As for the cucummber, I just cut a slice off, microwave it in a little bit of water for about 1min, let it cool and drop the entire slice in. The tiger barbs take a go at it for a while, then the RTBS comes and gets his share. And the rest is left for the plecos.

You should skin any veggies you feed to your fish due to the possibility of pesticides and other chemicals which could still be in the skin....My rtb will eat almost any type of veggie i throw in his tank....but he does have a soft spot for skinned peas.
