Royal Panaque Tail Damage?

I bought a royal panaque today and after releasing him noticed something I didn't see in the shop, that it's tail looks damaged but in a quite odd way. At first I thought it must be some sort of infection or something and I should post in the emergency forum but then I saw a pic on fishbase which made me wonder if this is something more specific to royal panaques.

I have yet to try to get a pic of him (or her) yet but will try later tonight. It's tail looks similar to that on the pic from fishbase below but to a much lower degree. It's much smaller on my plec and more in a line down the middle of the tail fin (can't remember the proper name).

What could this be? I'm worried about him but glad that it's not as bad as it is for that fish in the pic! What should I do to treat it? Should I post in the emergencies forum instead?

do you mean the transparent window? Its normal, the fact that yours is smaller means yours is older, they grow out over time, leaving no window in the caudal (thats the proper name!)
