Royal Mail Postal Strike

This is a carbon copy of a thread I made in the classified section but seeing as its a potentially serious problem
facing our beloved hobby I thought it prudent to make the same thread here.

Hi,
Would folks considering Buying and Selling Livestock in the classified section/s, please be aware of the current imminent UK Royal Mail Postal disruptions and plan accordingly.
No one wants to see fish or otherwise not reaching their allotted destinations with in specific time limits due to this.
If your thinking of using this operator for your method of delivery please consider the welfare of the livestock and the current dilemma we face and make alternative arrangements if necessary.

ParcelForce isn't on strike only Royal Mail.

Most items will be sent by royal mail though. It's only big things that go by parcel force. Special Delivery (used for live fish) could be affected. See point 2 here

I always send via Royal Mail Next Day Delivery I cant comment on Parcelforce (seperate company).
Hence the heads up
Question: If you post your package at the local Post Office , who collects it.....

Listening to the radio Friday (think it was Jeremy Vine) and apparently a lot of people thought ParcelForce were the same as Royal Mail so they wanted to clarify that only Royal Mail were going on strike. You can send your package via ParcelForce from the Post Office (also not on strike).

I'm glad you bought it up and think it's very valid as I expect many people use Royal Mail for fish shipments and such.

When you go to the p/o you can ask for it to go by parcel force/special delivery,these are unaffected by the strike,they are usually collected by non postal workers or at my local p/o the managers are responsible for taking any parcels or specials to the office they will be going from for next day delivery.
