Hi, i recently picked some rocks out of a fresh water river when i was camping to put in the tank for my betta. I'm gonna do a water change soon and thought i could put them in then, shall i just boil them for 15 mins? they are very small, just to make a small cave.

Thanks :good:

Make sure if your making a "cave" to make it secure. I would reccomend boiling around 30 minutes as thats what i did and i have no problems with it :)

Buy some aquarium sealant and glue the rocks together (after boiling for thirty minutes at least). If they're glued, you won't have to worry at all about the rocks accidentally tumbling down on the fish or cracking his home. Also, watch the ph levels in your water...the rocks could change it pretty quickly.

wow, you learn somthing new everyday, when i was a kid i used to get rocks from bush creeks and what not, and stick them in with my gold fish without problems, ive doen the same now with my tropicals, got them from our garden pond, we baught a couple of tonnes to line the bottom of the pond and i just pulled a few out, scrubbed them down, stuck them in, all good, i guess its upto u what u decide to do, boiling is most likely the safest bet i'd say
