How much live rock would a 75 gallon need to sufficiently filter the water?

1 pound per gallon. people say 2 lbs but 1 would be efficeint. 2 pounds takes up to much room i think.

So 75 lbs. I heard some where u can buy mostly live rock and the rest base rock and the base rock will eventually become live. Could i do this? How much of each should I get? How long will it take for the base rock to become live?

I did about a 35/65 LR/BR ratio when I first set my tank up. Took a LONG time for the rock to become live but it is now. I'd say at least 6 months before it even starts to be live, and a full year before you can really call it live rock

Would you not recommend doing this or would you recommend getting more LR? LR is quite expensive, and I was hoping to save a few bucks with the base rock.

The ONLY way I'd reccomend doing it is if you had the patience to stock SLOWLY. I thought I had the patience, but still stocked too fast and got an algae spike
