I added one to my tank last week and have briefly spotted him once. Are they notorious hiders or only if something is likely to be wrong with him? I wanna see him :(

I've read they are, but mine have always been out and about during the day too. They can take a few days to settle in, but a week is quite a long time, even if it also shed it's skin.

Check to see if its coming out at night. Do you have any boisterous fish in the tank?

Not really boisterous no, as they are all young adults and the shrimp itself is quite big
I just hope its ok

Well after 3 weeks he has finally come out to play, he's hiding in the wood and my shark spends endless hours [vertically] waiting for him to come out, think it puts him off a bit, but once he does come out the shark doesn't bother with him. So now we've established he's not shark dinner [given they're nearly the same size, hardly gonna be the case] he has been venturing out a lot more now. He is CUTE, I lurve him, may have to get some more.

Here he is!

Nice shrimp, looks much cleaner than my bamboo shrimp (which are covered in algae currently)  .

Here's a better pic, he is so sweet!

He is lovely!
I think Shrimp are fantastic, great little characters and fun to watch, especially at feeding time!

Nice bamboo. I have no luck with them for some reason. Mine were shy and they didnt have anything to fear.

heres a pic of mine...ive had him for a year and theyre lifespan i heard is around 1.5? hes huge and isnt scared of nobody

he loves the plants that are on the surface near the filter outflow...if i feel he needs a snack i life the filter a bit so some gunk comes out and he happily licks his "filters"
