as the title says, is it needed? btw i have pretty clean water, ive tested it but not tested for phospates and that other chemical.....any insite would be great as im going to be having a spare 130 litre tank soon :)

99% of people would suggest running RO water.

Tested it with what?

Your water will have Chlorine or Chloramine.
Your water won't have a TDS of 0 (or anywhere close, mine is super clean and gets around 100).
Your water will have nitrates.
You might find you have some copper in there as well.
And it will have various other metals.

In the long run, RO will probably save you the hassle of battling with algae and the like... 130L isn't that big, it will be harder to maintain stats with the smaller volume. If you get a smallish RO unit (3stage+DI 50GPD) it will last you quite a while and be cheaper than buying/transporting RO and dealing with algae. Price for that - around £50 maybe less.

ah well looks like im going to fork out for one of them then :) im not sure on stocking, although im thinking about a dawrf lionfish :) i really like them but im rpetty sure i cannot have the normaly sized one lol ive been wanting to go marine for a while and ive finaly decided it is time, ive got the tank pretty much sorted :)

Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish will suffice in that tank - tank mates are limited as its a small tank so you want small fish, but you want larger fish to go with the Lionfish.

Look at the marine journals, someone else is setting up a Fumanchu Dwarf Lionfish tank.

I run my 120 litre on tap water. I have a decent skimmer, a good external filter and 25%-30% weekly waterchanges and 6 small green chromis and its been going fine for a few months now
