What can be done with RO waste water?

Is it good enough to drink or to use instead of tap water in my tropical tank?

The RO waste water will be nutrient rich. Can use it for washing-up or flushing the toilet. also get a cheep water bun in the garden and use it to water the plants. I wouldn't use it in a FW setup.

maybe in a planted tank, high in nitrate, phosphate etc could really help the plant growth

They sell RO revitaliszement powders and salts so you can use them in freshwater. Check out some sellers online and you can find some under the "RO" catagory.

Wouldn't the high GH and Mg and Ca levels hinder plant growth?

there is filtration that takes place before the RO membrane remember. My lfs has used RO waste for at least the 3 years I have been going there. Once I have a bit of time I will set one of my systems to be on a constant water change system from my RO waste.

Ok well look at it this way, there are 4 gallons worth of minerals in 3 gallons worth of RO waste water... Basically 25% more minerals in the "waste" water. IME, that wouldn't be enough to cause an algae bloom in most properly setup planted tanks.

You can totally drink the "wastewater", its basically just a little bit harder than your tapwater, and also chlorine/flourine free if your pre-filters are working. Drink it, wash with it, laundry, shower, bathtubs, water plants, freshwater fishtanks, etc
