I understand that RO units run constantly and produce a percentage of waste water.

Can anyone tell me just what efficiency these units run at? For instance, if I bought a 10 gallon per day unit, how much waste water will that produce?

Also, can the units be throttled. I will only need about 20 gallons a week and so the smallest unit will produce way too much at full wack. I'm looking at mixing RO and tap water to get the water I will use.

Hi Water

RO units run at a rate of about 1:3 i.e. 1 gallon of RO water for every 3 gallons of waste water.

With the unit I have, you can limit the input to the unit, thus reducing the output.

Most RO units are rated for 6psi input pressure and 20C water temp. If you use domestic cold water, the output will be less that the stated output.

Also if the unit is from an American manufacturer i.e. Kent the the output will be in US galls, and not UK gals.

BWT you can buy units that do not have to run constantly.

Hi WK

Not sure, never looked, as I wanted one with a lagre output, to be used constantly.

IMO you should get a small unit, and reduce the flow to your requirement.
