Hey all,

I'm buying my own RO unit, im looking at a 50gpd (i know it wont actually do 50 gpd :))

But i'm really confused in how to plumb it in or whatever! I need to make sure my dad knows what to do when i get it ;)

Thanks,

EDIT: I know realise that i can just use a Y connector with the dishwasher/washing machine, but i'm still confused about the waste tube or whatever its called, do i need to use it? Because i'd have to get a waste pipe thing installed if i do

the waste water can simply be allowed to go down the drain. In Australia we collect it and put it on the garden but if water is cheap then either water the lawn or flush it.

the only reason i ask is because of this link:

http://www.ro-man.com/faq-pro/?action=arti...id=30&lang=

Then there is a little thing called a drain saddle that you attach to the waste pipe under the sink to carry the waste water away... That's about it. Average install time is approx. 30 minutes, 20 if you know what you are doing, 45-60 minutes if you're a bit on the slow side.

but it all makes sense as to just put it down the drain.

Many thanks colin

I suggested you use the "Y" connector as when you get the kit it will come complete with a mains saddle and a piercing mechanism, that will clamp onto a mains pipe and you screw the thread until it spikes the pipe. (dont worry it doesen't leak) I personally dont like the idea incase you have to move house. So I use the "Y" connector method.
If you do this. then behind the washing machine you should see an upright waste stantion pipe just feed your waste line from your RO unit into the top of this and let it run to waste that way.
Everything comes complete in the box including a concise instruction manual.
I would have gone for the bigger 75G per day kit though.
