Hubbie fed the fish yesterday and found a dried-up silver-tipped tetra on the floor behind the tank. It must have jumped out through the gaps in the back of the tank. :( Weird thing is we've silver-tips for four years and never had one jump out of the tank before. What's the best way to cover over the gaps?

Sorry, I don't know how to cover the gaps, but I have question for you about the Silver Tips, as I just got a few.

I bought 6, and 3 of them are /very/ gold, and beautiful, and playful. 2 of them are very dull, and seem to hide in the plants more. I've watched them and haven't noticed any chasing of those two in particualr... They are in a 29 gallon tank, and when I feed them they all eat like normal, including the dull ones. Do you have any ideas of why they are like this?

Thanks,
neon

Hmmm. There always seems to be one or two of ours that are a lighter colour than the others and tend to hide more. Maybe it's just that they're at the bottom of the pecking order.

i have silver tips and half are orange/gold and the other half are a duller lighter colour. i always presumed that half were male and half were female as they breed quite frequently (although they never get past the egg stage as my red eye's have a feast at spawning time!!) the dull ones are all the egg layers i think, sometimes difficult to tell as its such a blur when they are at it!
