we will never know, nor will we find out

you survived ammonia spikes of 8+and a shock into a new tank, idk what happened buddy, you were doing so great

:S

You have my sympathies..........not nice losing a favourite fish.

this sounds HORRIBLE but after he died i did an autpopsy(i used to work at a vet, its just something i do, i can't stand not exploring every option to know what i did wrong)

he had managed to eat a peice of carbon -__________________- wth..

so yea, he was blocked, with no relief, i honestly don't think i could have done anything about it so be SUPER CAREFUL you dont drop a piece of carbon in your tank if you have bigger mouth fish

I'm sorry to hear about your fish. Its always terrible to love a pet. Hope you can overcome.

And yes it did sound a little horrible about the autopsy, but I can honestly say I will definitely think twice about carbon in my tanks. Thank you for that information.

i know i had never though of it and i guess i had a piece fall in from a really old filter cartridge or something! it was weird, he got bloated but bloat meds didnt work, diarheatics didnt work and he had no sores, just heavy gilling
